201 MUSTARD

SENNESVIKA – The new painting atelier in Sennesvika, Lofoten, is designed as a quiet counterpart to the existing printmaking studio and the artist’s home, together forming a small yard overlooking the dramatic coastal landscape. The new buildings form, size, and timber cladding are directly inspired by the old barn that now houses the print workshop, while the traditional red exterior draws from the surrounding barns and stables of the area.

Inside, the atelier is deliberately minimal and nearly scale-less. Matt, white, smooth surfaces are washed with indirect light that shifts subtly throughout the day and across the seasons. The space is intentionally free of visual disturbance, allowing paintings to emerge in a calm, undistracted environment shaped only by light and the changing atmosphere of Lofoten.
